Just wanted to jump on and introduce myself to the community. I am probably more of a silent member who likes to listen to others more than offer advice on things I have limited knowledge of. One of my main mottos I live by is that it's better to be silent & have people think you are a fool rather than to speak and prove them right.

Anyways....

I am in the process of acquiring a beautiful & unmodified balck manual 370z from Perth in WA. You may have seen in on carsales. The ks' were probably higher than what I would have liked (155 000), but he is the original owner (purchased new) who has been a mature driver with log books up to date and serviced by Nissan dealership. Even with having it transported with CEVA I thought the price tag of 19 was pretty reasonable. Looking forward to adding some tasteful modifications including, but not limited to, fully adjustable coilover suspension, tinted windows, 20 inch deep dished rims, front spoiler ( possibly a rear one), changing the gear knob & buying another set of original z floor mats ( yes, I know...outlandish), adding on my wife's prestige plates ( I LUV JL). Also going to add a smoke tint to the headlights & tailights since it's not our daily. Feeling pretty pumped & can't wait for its arrival as it won't be leaving Perth until mid next week & will take 13-15 days in transit.

Previous rides have included a black 04 HSV Clubsprt, 95 Twin Turboed Supra and a variety of other vehicles. I've always been known for having a nice ride, with the exception of a messy period in my life when I went through a divorce and child custody arrangements in which I was forced into buying my mothers 04 Hyundai Elantra (which I later sold back to her once I was back on my feet again).

Well that's it for now. Really excited to meet fellow 350/370z enthusiasts ?

Jayson

Thanks mate. I hope you are right. I must admit to have devoted months of searching & comparing. I was originally looking at 350z's, even contemplated a gt86. But when this one came along I thought it would be the only opportunity to get into a 370z as I though they were a bit of a pipe dream as I couldn't afford 25-30k plus to own one.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome! :)

Hi & Welcome...

If you are looking at buying the latest Zed Wheels I have a set for sale - I changed up to some 20' within the first two weeks of buying my 2015 white 370Z so the wheels/tyres have only done 1000k.. They are in perfect condition no marks whatsoever... Photo attached below of the wheels and also a pic of my car with the mods so far....

Well it's been a while since I posted any updates but better late than never I guess. Finally put on a set of 20" Advan Racing rims. 9.0 front & 10.5 rear. Also got the windows tinted nice & dark.

Looks good champ, definitely looks in good condition for those kms! any luck with the smoking/ tinting of the lights yet? I've got a black z too, thinking of having the tails tinted as well, fronts love the custom halo/ demon eyes with colour coded internals :) check out Luminance Autowerke (could be off with spelling)...

Thanks Trent. Always nice to hear from a fellow Z fan (love what you are doing with your project, will be good to see some pics with your new rims on it) gotta love the black ?

I actually found some pre cut dark tint/smoked adhesive covers for the tail lights but haven't tried fitting them yet....I should look into doing that this weekend ?

I was thinking about tinting the front lights with film but the shape of them with the bump in the middle is putting me off. Will probably be a job for a paint/panel shop & have them sprayed but not sure if I want to go that route.

Thanks for the tip with the headlights, I will have to look into that as well.

No worries, shame your way up in QLD! yeh not planning to do too much more but easier said than done, like your just throwing some new rims on make a big difference. I have seen those and some similar ones, as you said front may be hard. I had some rear tint on my old car wasn't too bad but they were pretty much small and flat so easier/ tidier install. A spray would definitely look better but be in trouble if its too dark or the police have an issue. Yeh not overly expensive either, think it was around the $550 mark. Keen to see how the tint turns out :)

Hey all. Well it's been a legit 15 years that I've been waiting to say this, dreaming of it in fact, And now I can.. I just bought a 350z. Can honestly say I've had my heart set on one since 2003 but was never in a position to buy, either with finance or family. It's a 2003 manual in silver, mechanically seems quite good (pretty sure I need rear wheel bearings though), cosmetically is pretty tidy, a few blemishes here and there that need a little bit of loving touch which I'm more than happy to do. I live in Newcastle but bought the car in Sydney and had to drive it out of there in peak rush hour traffic.. Wasn't that fun driving bumper to bumper with a clutch pedal I'd had 5 minutes with! Hahaha. I know there's a few Newcastle region people here, can anyone recommend a good place for services/repairs if I need any work done. Cheers Dave

Ain't it funny how things turn around. After a year or so away from a Z, I am finding that I'm missing a Z in my life once again and am looking for a new ride. I bought a Mazda RX-7 FD some months ago and basically it has been on stands since LOL! Talk about stereotypes! Well, it's not because of the engine, I'm upgrading the suspension, and the wait for parts has taken weeks and weeks. I've put it on the market as it's just not something I can live with at the moment (I was retrenched at work, so there goes any ideas of single turbo conversion). Plus, Rotaries have appalling fuel economy.  You think the Z is bad?  Don't get me wrong, the Rx7 is kinda my dream car. When these engines are on song, man, there isn't anything like it. And when the induction whine whistles from the twin turbos and the engine growls and rumbles and backfires, well, it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.  But it's time to let it go and get back into something more, um, sedate.  I'll miss the sheer power, but this time around, I am definitely going to consider supercharging it (once I am back at work).

Hi All, The map thing for the Z is a complete joke - Nissan says it will cost around $350 to provide current update.  I am advised that the procedure requires obtaining a unique ID from the head unit to be updated -- this unique code is entered into the Nissan system and the update DVD is generated specifically for that head unit only and will not work in any other head unit. Nissan provides FREE upgrades to the 2016 map version for other vehicles in their range (see Nissan Aus website) but does not offer for the z .... WTF? Maps are available from Navigation Systems Australia .. (http://www.navigationau.com/nissan.html) but are $450 for the 2019 version, $350 for 2018 etc.  I understand that Nissan partners with them to provide maps --- I suspect that the same unique code issue applies to these maps also. Maps are available for Nissan USA owners (for entire USA and Canada) for around $150 (US, I guess) SUMMARY; 1) Nissan does not care to support it's Australian 370Z owners and sees them fair game to be price gouged for map updates 2) Copying DVD for use in different head units is claimed to be impossible 3) Australian customers are being forced to pay HIGH prices for map data which is readily and cheaply available to others. eg you can buy a Tom-Tom for a couple of hundred bucks which offers lifetime free map upgrades ... and Nissan provides free upgrades for other vehicles in the range Therefore, I have all but given up on a map data update. The only way forward in my view is to hear from members in the Zclub who have successfully updated their maps and to find out how it is done given the Nissan system constraints. Alternatively, does anybody have ideas about how we could 'lobby' Nissan to provide a fairer and more economically viable map data support to their customers? Cheers

Just bought an 06 ZR... same problem... look like some sort of wrap material..... replacement is $197 here in USA. LOOKS like best bet is to remove and cut a piece of matching wrap to replace it.... then apply and blow dry.

How'd you go with getting a map update? I'm chasing one too.
Plenty of old threads but no one is around to lend a hand
