I love my 370z and I love tracked vehicles (used to drive APCs) and I love snowboarding. Put the three together and you get this.... https://www.autoblog.com/2018/02/04/nissan-370zki-quick-spin-review-89453929342/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Unfortunately I spoke too soon. Looks like on Thursday the google integration for voice recognition and map location suggestions stopped working which really sucks. There is a slightly clunky work around in that you create a contact in iOS and add an address to that and then import that as a favourite into the navdy app and can then navigate on that. Such a shame as the google integration made it superior to anything I’ve ever used to before. Everything else is still working though. Hopefully someone snaps up the I.P. and gets it going again. Look above for what I’ve said about the coolstream duo. That’s what I’ve got and the volume controls on the steering wheel work just fine with that. But you can’t change or browse music from the steering wheel unfortunately. I do have another solution which I’ve just implemented which I really like. It’s called Navdy. Look it up on youtube. Plenty of vids/reviews on it. I love this thing. It ties everything together, turn by turn navigation with voice prompting/recognition (you tell it where you want to go) with traffic data from google maps, phone/txt/email integration, vehicle data like speed and tachometer etc, full phone music integration (control from steering wheel dial add-on) and all this info on a fighter jet style heads up display. The best one I’ve seen. It’s freakin awesome. Heaps better than Merc, BMW Mini, Mitsubishi HUD attempts. Check it out. There is one possible large down side (and a possible up side) to the Navdy though. The company went into a form of liquidation end of last year. No one is sure why exactly as they had an awesome product and had signed a deal with Renault-NISSAN so they shouldn’t have had money problems. Even saw a rumour that they’d been bought out by Garmin but it’s all here say and conjecture at this stage. So their support has stopped and no one knows what functionality of the Navdy will stop working or break or when, if at all. There’s no more software or map updates for the foreseeable future. So far mine works fine. The upside of this is that loads of people with them have all panicked and are now trying to offload theirs reasonably cheap on eBay. JB HiFi are still selling them for $800AUD but I’ve seen them go on eBay for as little as $200 recently. May even be able to get it for less now. Personally I think even if some of the functionality like the voice recognition etc stops working, the car data through the ODBII port, the music and messaging integration and the funky heads up display which should definitely still keep working would make getting one on the cheap a worthwhile investment. Oh and works with iOS and Android. No windows phone support etc unfortunately. Just a couple of pics of the tachometer and music controls. It’s really difficult to capture the display on the phone but in actual use it’s ludicrously clear and easily readable. The GPS/maps/traffic are really good too. Way better than what we get as stock. Hopefully this has given you a couple of ideas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And a Z is heaps more fun. Plus the girls turn their heads more at a Z than what is essentially a boring hatchback with go-faster bits in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. dodgybugga added a post in a topic Remote window down

Unfortunately, here in Oz, we got shafted on a lot of stuff. Choice of interiors and trims etc being one example. Another is the remote window down function. I think our cars get slugged with so much import and luxury car tax, NISSAN Australia decided to leave a lot of the little extra things out - even if it didn’t really cost anything to include them to keep costs down as much as possible. As a result, all the easy to remove stuff went. Which sucks... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Heya Michelle. The AUX connection is on the car, not the phone. In 2010 version that I have, in the console between the seats there is three RCA jacks (red yellow and white). You'll need to get the cable from the Apple Store to fit this or a cheaper equivalent. It's got the male RCA jacks and a USB for power on one end and the old style Apple 30-pin connector on the other end. For iPhone 7 you'll also need the 30-pin to lightning plug adapter if you can't wait for the Coolstream duo to arrive. My advice would be to wait as that adapter is stupid expensive for what it is. The cheap fake ones don't work. Plug all that in the console. When the coolstream duo turns up plug that onto the 30-pin connector and follow the instructions to synch your phone to the Coolstream Duo. Whenever you want to listen to the phone just press the AUX button on your stereo head unit and play your tunes from the phone wirelessly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Actually found an elegant solution to stream audio in my 2010. Works with IOS/apple, android and windows devices. Still using the aux cable in the console, I bought a Coolstream duo Bluetooth dongle which plugs in to the old style apple 30-pin connector. Does a good job, doesn't interfere with the phone Bluetooth connection and you can pair a couple of phones to it to mix the music up. Conveniently also has a 3.5mm plug to enable you to turn any headphones into Bluetooth headphones. About $40 on eBay. Also, as a bonus turns any old 30-pin docking station etc into Bluetooth compatible meaning the old docks can now be used with the lightning plugged IOS phones. I should have bought 3! 10. dodgybugga added a post in a topic Reverse Cam install 370Z coupe

Thanks to this guide (and that of Primusa) I did this a couple of months ago and find the reverse cam to be a huge help. I used the naviks unit and ended up hooking it up to a 2in1 camera off Amazon that has an integrated parking distance sensor (ATian Universal 2 in 1 Car Parking Reversing Radar Rear view backup Camera). You have a clear image on the screen till you get to within a couple of metres away from something and then you get the lines on the screen with a distance value (eg. 1.3m) As the distance decreases the colours of the lines go from green to yellow to red and eventually has a "Stop" prompt once you are too close to something (in case you are too dumb to know what to do otherwise I guess). It also has an audible "sonar" prompt. I recommend this camera as a cheap way to get both camera and reverse sesnsors on your car (and also without having to drill holes in the bumper). Doesn't look too non-factory either. While it's not ultra HD Tv quality it certainly does the job. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    This is tragic.
Sad to see this. Condolences to the family and friends on their unfortunate loss. Always remember the street is not a track.... http://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/news/man-killed-in-melbourne-car-crash/news-story/791a351d1b95ac26ba78cfd711ed5314 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That's worth a look. Thanks for the info. I wonder how it would go with the native Bluetooth pairing for telephone already in the car?

Is that supposed to be "can't"? Or is there a hidden way of doing it. I've got a 2010 and haven't been able to find a way to stream from the phone. There's nothing in my manual that suggests you can. Just use the AUX and a cable as roketrider suggested. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Tapatalk on iPad not showing feed.
Hi y'all, Got myself an iPad mini the other day after I dropped my cheap Chinese android tablet and smashed it. Downloaded Tapatalk from the App Store and logged in. Set everything up but when I try to add Z Club to the feed so can see all new posts it comes up and says "Feed May not be available to small or private communities". Weird thing is it works on the iPhone just fine. Anyone else had similar issues?

  17. dodgybugga added a post in a topic Volant Air Intake

Just trying to rectify my ignorance as was thinking about getting some cold air intakes - do the coppers not like anything without an airbox? Would they ticket you for some "naked" K&N filters etc.? As for the original posters question they def look better than the stock air boxes but I wonder if it would be worth it. It'd be interesting to see if it did make much difference to the engine note or any performance difference either good or bad. Definitely subbing this thread for further info...

  20. dodgybugga added a post in a topic Number plates

You'd reckon that if they had the money for such a rare plate, they'd have a better/more fun car. Thought about leaving a note to see what they wanted for them but didn't think the funds in my piggy bank would cover it unfortunately.

    Number plates
Saw this thing parked outside my office the other night. The ultimate number plate! Its a crime that its on this piece of junk though. Bet its worth a small fortune.....

  22. dodgybugga added a post in a topic You've been selected for a random breath test.....

Once had a marked rozzer follow me for 10mins on my way to touch footy. Made sure I was doing everything totally by the books. I pulled into the car park and they followed me in. Parked up right behind me like they were blocking me in and just stared at me while I was getting my gear out of the passenger seat. Got out and simply but politely said "Can I help you?" They both glared at me for another 5 secs like they were about to taser me and then just floored it and took off without saying anything. Really weird. Don't know if they'd never seen a 370 before and were disappointed I wasn't an Ibrahim or something.

    Spacers illegal in NSW?
    G'day all.
Question on spacers or adaptors - whatever you want to call them. I am guessing spacers are stud replacement slip on types and bolt-ons are like adaptors?
I've seen plenty on this forum about people running with them and no mention of the legality at all. I went past a well known tyre franchise this morning and enquired how much it would cost to put the spacers on when I get some new tyres done. They flat out told me that it was illegal and they wouldn't do it.
This is the first time I have come across this issue. I went right through the "discussions" about stud replacement vs bolt-ons etc and didn't notice anything about the issue of being illegal.
Looking around the net there seems to be a lot of ill-informed "a mate's cousin who once knew an apprentice mechanic" type of statements but nothing I can tell is legitimate. Some say they are fine, others say they aren't, and others say they need an engineers certificate then they are ok.
So, if they are legal, great! If illegal, I guess most people are just hoping not to get pulled up with them. Is that correct?
Anyone know for sure and care to enlighten me on the issue? I've obtained a set of Z1 bolt-ons and want to use them with stock 19s and will be slightly peeved if putting them on will make the car unroadworthy/uninsured.

  24. dodgybugga added a post in a topic Bunny hopping issue

Not sure if this will help but I had a crusty old Volksie Westy Van that suddenly developed a terrible shuddering in 1st. Only way to get moving without the shuddering was to rev the bejesus out of it which was rather embarrassing at the lights in the middle of London. Turns out it was oil which had leaked on to the clutch plate which was causing it to slip. Cleaned the plate up and a new seal and she was right to make it all the way around Europe and over the Swiss Alps with silky smooth shifting. Something that could be possibly causing your issue.

I miss that van..... And both it's double beds. ;o)
